Pay for Kartra only if you will use most of its bundle: pages, email, checkout and a course area on 1 bill, from $119 a month on Starter ($99 billed yearly). Skip it if you mainly need a checkout, because the $59 Essentials plan takes 5% of every sale and holds 1 product.
4 things decide which plan fits: your monthly sales, your contact count, the features you need and how much of the bundle you will use. This Kartra review checks them against Kartra’s live pricing page and G2’s 62 ratings (3.9 out of 5). It also sorts all 127 Trustpilot reviews behind Kartra’s 3.2 score.
Search for a Kartra review and much of what ranks was written to sell you Kartra. At least 3 of the 5 written reviews on Google’s first page ask you to sign up through the writer’s own link or discount code.
The highest-ranked of them rates Kartra 4.9 out of 5 and never shows a price. Another still lists Silver, Gold and Platinum plans that Kartra no longer sells. Neither tells you which plan you need, or what happens when you outgrow it.
This review uses Kartra’s own pricing and trial pages, G2, Reddit and all 127 Trustpilot reviews, sorted one by one.
You’ll see which plan fits your situation, what each one costs, and when Kartra is the wrong buy.

Key Takeaways
- 4 plans, none of them free. Essentials $59, Starter $119, Growth $229 and Professional $549 a month, or $52, $99, $189 and $429 billed yearly.
- Essentials takes 5% of every sale. Past $1,200 a month in sales (about $940 on yearly billing), it costs more than Starter.
- Starter covers pages, email, checkout and courses. Growth is needed past 2,500 contacts or for automations and affiliates, and the contact move is automatic.
- Kartra’s menu links a 14-day free trial. A second Kartra page still offers 30 days, and both cap the trial at 1,000 emails.
- Trustpilot’s unprompted reviews split by month. 20 came in October 2023, all 5 stars. Of the other 26, 19 give 1 or 2 stars.
- Support tops the complaints. 14 of the 37 Trustpilot reviews giving 1 or 2 stars are mainly about slow or unreachable support.
What Kartra is, and who it is built for
Kartra is an all-in-one marketing platform. 1 subscription covers a page and funnel builder, email and SMS through Kartra Mail, checkouts, memberships and courses, video hosting, calendars, a helpdesk and affiliate management.
Kartra’s pricing page aims each plan at a stage of business: Essentials at “Solopreneurs, freelancers and creatives launching”, Starter at “Experts ready to grow their brand and earn online”, and Growth at “Established businesses scaling with automations”.
Across Trustpilot, G2 and Reddit, the praise is consistent: everything sits behind 1 login and the pieces work together. The complaints are consistent too. Reviewers name a steep learning curve, a page builder they find slow, and support that is hard to reach quickly.
Kartra’s 4 plans, and the 5% only Essentials charges
Kartra sells 4 plans: Essentials at $59 a month, Starter at $119, Growth at $229 and Professional at $549. Billed yearly, they cost $52, $99, $189 and $429 a month. Only Essentials takes a cut of your sales, 5% of each one, on top of your Stripe or PayPal fees. Every number here comes from Kartra’s pricing page.
Each higher Kartra plan raises the contact limit: 500 on Essentials, 2,500 on Starter, 12,500 on Growth and 25,000 on Professional.
| Plan | Monthly | Billed yearly | Contacts | Per-sale fee | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essentials | $59 | $52/mo | 500 | 5% | 5 pages, 1 product, 1 course, 10,000 emails a month |
| Starter | $119 | $99/mo | 2,500 | 0% | Unlimited pages, products and courses, video hosting, calendars |
| Growth | $229 | $189/mo | 12,500 | 0% | Automations, affiliates, surveys and quizzes, helpdesk |
| Professional | $549 | $429/mo | 25,000 | 0% | Helpdesk live chat, real-time funnel analytics, 5 custom domains |
12 months at the yearly rate comes to $624, $1,188, $2,268 and $5,148, in line with the “Save up to 22%” badge on the toggle.
Kartra’s pricing FAQ says its subscription is flat-rate, “which means there are never any extra fees”. The same page lists “5% transaction fees” on the Essentials card, and a second FAQ answer adds a “mid-cycle reconciliation fee” when your list outgrows your plan. Our Kartra pricing breakdown works through both fees in detail.
The free trial: 14 days or 30, depending on the page
Kartra’s free trial lasts 14 days on the page its site menu links to, Kartra’s 14-day trial page, and email is capped at 1,000 sends while it runs.

A second Kartra page, the 30-day trial page, still offers 30 days free on the same plans with the same 1,000-email cap. 2 of the affiliate reviews ranking for this search offer 30 days through their own link or method. Neither trial page includes Professional. Kartra’s pricing page also carries a 30-day money-back guarantee.
You need no coupon for the trial. The discount codes on some review sites, such as an extra 30% off your first payment, come attached to the writer’s own partner link.
Planning to test a real broadcast? The 1,000-email cap covers 1 send to a list of 1,000.
Kartra reviews split by how they reached Trustpilot
Kartra’s 3.2 on Trustpilot blends reviews that arrived in very different ways, and the route a review took tracks its stars closely. Trustpilot shows 127 written Kartra reviews (its star count says 129), and its page data records how each one arrived.
81 came through invitations a business sets up. 49 carry the Invited label and came from a customer list, all between March and May 2024. 32 carry the Verified label and came through an automatic invitation flow. 77 of those 81 were posted in 2024.
The other 46 carry Trustpilot’s Unprompted label. 20 of those arrived in a single month, October 2023, and all 20 give 5 stars. Trustpilot’s company activity page says that is also the month Kartra claimed its profile. The data cannot show why that month spiked. The invited reviews are not uniformly glowing either: Kartra’s own customer list produced 13 reviews of 1 or 2 stars out of 49.
Outside October 2023, 19 of the 26 unprompted reviews give 1 or 2 stars, against 18 of the 81 invited ones.
| How the review arrived | Reviews | 5 stars | 1 or 2 stars |
|---|---|---|---|
| Invited from a customer list (Invited label) | 49 | 20 | 13 |
| Automatic invitation (Verified label) | 32 | 17 | 5 |
| Unprompted, October 2023 | 20 | 20 | 0 |
| Unprompted, every other month | 26 | 5 | 19 |
Trustpilot adds its own warning to Kartra’s page: “This company hasn’t invited customers recently, so reviews may not be representative”. The flow of new reviews has nearly stopped. Trustpilot holds 12 Kartra reviews from 2025 and 2026 combined, 8 of them 1 or 2 stars, and only 2 in the past 12 months, both 1 star.
G2’s Kartra page reads calmer. Its 62 ratings average 3.9 out of 5, 50 of them give 4 or 5 stars, and several were posted in 2026. The complaints there are milder versions of Trustpilot’s: slow page loads, an interface that “feels dated in places”, and a steep learning curve. G2’s pricing box, which says it was “provided by Kartra”, lists Starter at “$99.00 Per Year”. The real figure is $99 a month on yearly billing.
What the 37 low-star reviews complain about
Slow or unreachable support is the main complaint in 14 of the 37 Kartra reviews that give 1 or 2 stars, twice as many as bugs.
| Main complaint | Reviews | In the reviewer’s words | Posted |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slow or unreachable support | 14 | “Been waiting a week for a response to get my email list approved” | Sep 2026 |
| Bugs, crashes or a slow page builder | 7 | “Constant logouts, a malfunctioning page builder” | Aug 2025 |
| Price rises, lock-in or refunds | 6 | “I am told that it is now $247 a month” | Sep 2024 |
| Hard to learn or use | 4 | “Very confusing and overwhelming platform” | Mar 2024 |
| Something else | 6 | Spoofed emails, poor fit, an affiliate, a course buyer, SEO code, no French | 2022 to 2025 |
Each review is counted once, under the problem it names first. Count every mention instead and support comes up in 21 of the 37. Kartra replies to every review, but often late. All 11 posted in 2025 got their answers between September 24 and October 2, 2026. That is 10 to 20 months after they went up. The 1 review from 2026 got a reply in about 2 weeks.
Is Kartra worth it? 4 things decide it
Kartra is worth the money when 4 facts about your business line up with its pricing page. Check each one:
- How much you sell each month, because Essentials takes 5% of every sale and Starter takes nothing.
- How many contacts you have, because Kartra moves you up a plan automatically when you pass the limit.
- Which features you need, because automations, affiliates, quizzes and the helpdesk start on Growth.
- How much of the bundle you will switch on, because pages, email, checkout, courses and video are priced together.
If the honest answer to the last one is “just the checkout”, a tool that sells files without the bundle covers it. The options include Payhip (free plan, 5% per sale), Gumroad (10% plus $0.50 per sale) and CartMango, which I run (free right now, from $10 a year once paid plans start in November, 0% per sale). The last situation below runs the numbers.
The 5 situations below take these one at a time. Find yours and skip the rest.
If you pay for 3 or more marketing tools right now
Kartra makes the most sense for a seller already paying separately for pages, email and a checkout. Starter puts all 3 on 1 bill at $119 a month, or $99 billed yearly, along with courses, video hosting and calendars. Automations that tag leads and send each one different emails, based on what that lead does, need Growth.
The clearest public example comes from course creator Anita Dykstra, in a Kartra review she updated in March 2026. She wrote that Kajabi plus the add-ons she needed “ended up being around $500 per month”, and that Kartra would cost “$230 a month (or $189 If I paid annually)”. $229 is Growth’s price, and Growth is where Kartra’s affiliate tool starts, one of the features she said Kajabi lacked. Read her numbers knowing 2 things she also discloses: Kartra’s team reached out and gave her a test account, and her post carries an affiliate deal.
Other users report similar savings in time and tools. A user on the r/EcommerceWebsite thread that ranks for this search ran a coaching program on Kartra for 8 months. Having funnels, checkout and video hosting together, they wrote, “saved me hours compared to juggling WordPress + ActiveCampaign”. A G2 reviewer in May 2026 titled theirs “Kartra finally killed my frankenstack”.
The catch is that a bundle only saves money on the pieces you actually use. I learned that the expensive way. Over the years I bought 54 software lifetime deals, and when I finally counted, I still hadn’t used 90% of them. These days I buy a tool only if I will use it now or in the next 6 months.
Run that test on Kartra before your trial ends. Write down which pieces you will switch on in the next 6 months, then add up what you pay today for each one elsewhere. If the list is pages, email and a checkout, Starter may cost less than your current stack, so add both up before you decide. If the list is 1 item long, the bundle is paying for tools you will never open.
If the tools you would be replacing are Kajabi or ClickFunnels, our Kajabi review and ClickFunnels review show what those cost today, so the comparison runs on real numbers.
If your sales stay under $1,200 a month
Below about $1,200 a month in sales on monthly billing, Essentials at $59 is the cheaper Kartra plan. Above it, Starter at $119 wins, because the 5% Essentials takes grows with every sale. At exactly $1,200, the 5% comes to $60, and $59 plus $60 equals Starter’s $119. On yearly billing the crossover comes sooner, at about $940 a month in sales, because Starter drops to $99 while Essentials only drops to $52. Here is the gap on monthly billing:
- $500 a month in sales: Essentials costs $84, Starter $119.
- $1,200 a month: both cost $119.
- $2,000 a month: Essentials costs $159, Starter $119.
- $5,000 a month: Essentials costs $309, Starter $119, a gap of $2,280 a year.
Essentials allows 5 pages, 1 product and 1 membership or course, with 500 contacts and 10,000 emails a month. So Essentials fits 1 offer with a small list, and a second product means Starter, whatever your sales.
The 500-contact limit bites hardest on this plan. A single lead magnet that works can push you past it, and Kartra’s FAQ says that when you pass your plan’s limit you are “automatically upgraded to the next tier”, with the reconciliation fee on top.
If your email list is past 2,500 contacts
A list bigger than 2,500 contacts puts you on Growth at $229 a month, or $189 billed yearly, because Kartra moves you up automatically rather than capping you. On yearly billing that is $1,080 a year more than Starter for the same seller with a bigger list. Past 12,500 contacts the next step is Professional at $549 a month, or $429 billed yearly, which holds 25,000.
Kartra’s FAQ spells out the rule: “If you reach the maximum number of leads for your plan, you will be automatically upgraded to the next tier that can accommodate the new size of your lead database. You will be charged a mid-cycle reconciliation fee for this upgrade.” Custom domains, languages and team members work differently. Hit those limits and Kartra shows a message instead of upgrading you.
If you are bringing an existing list, Kartra reviews the import by hand before it goes live. Its own reply to a September 2026 1-star review says “List imports are manually reviewed to help protect deliverability across the platform”. That reviewer waited a week before the list was approved. The Reddit user from the thread above adds a warning from 8 months of use: “email deliverability tanks if you import cold lists”.
So clean the list before you import it. Every contact you carry over counts toward the 2,500 line, and the inactive ones are the ones most likely to hurt your sending.
If affiliates, quizzes or a helpdesk are on your list
Automations, affiliate management, surveys and quizzes, and the helpdesk all start on Growth. So a seller who needs any of them pays $229 a month, or $189 billed yearly, even with a list of 300 people. Live chat inside that helpdesk needs Professional at $549. Anita Dykstra’s review puts affiliate management and custom domains on a “Silver” plan, which Kartra no longer sells, so go by the pricing page: affiliates sit on Growth, along with a third custom domain.
A seller who only needs a checkout and wants affiliates promoting their products can run them on CartMango’s $30 a year Platinum plan, which includes an affiliate system for up to 250 affiliates. CartMango has no email tool, so it covers the selling side only. If you need the full mix but Kartra’s interface puts you off, our GoHighLevel alternatives guide prices other all-in-one platforms that bundle the same jobs.
If you mostly sell files or 1 course
For a seller of downloads, Kartra’s entry plan is Essentials at $59 a month on monthly billing ($52 on yearly) plus 5% per sale. On yearly billing, Starter becomes the cheaper Kartra plan once sales pass about $940 a month. A checkout built only for selling can cost far less, as the table below shows. A checkout-only tool also does less than Kartra’s bundle, so check that the pieces you would lose are pieces you don’t need.
The example below is a seller making $1,000 a month from 40 sales of $25. Payment processing fees are left out of every row, because each option adds card fees of its own on top.
On yearly billing where a plan has it, that seller pays Kartra $99 to $102 a month, Gumroad $120, Payhip $50 and CartMango about $0.83.
| Option | Plan fee, billed yearly | Per-sale fee | Monthly cost at $1,000 in sales |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kartra Essentials | $52 a month | 5% | $102 |
| Kartra Starter | $99 a month | 0% | $99 |
| Gumroad | None | 10% + $0.50 | $120 |
| Payhip free plan | None | 5% | $50 |
| CartMango | About $0.83 a month ($10 a year), free right now | 0% | $0.83, or $0 until paid plans start in November |
CartMango is the checkout I built, so weigh its row knowing who wrote it. CartMango’s $10 Silver plan covers order bumps and 10 products, and CartMango’s upsells start on the $20 plan.
At this sales level Gumroad costs more than either Kartra plan and Payhip costs about half. That order changes with your numbers: Gumroad’s $0.50 per sale weighs more on cheap products, and Payhip’s 5% grows with every sale while a flat plan stays put.
A course changes the picture. Kartra Essentials includes 1 course, and Payhip hosts courses for you. On video, Kartra’s own page disagrees with itself. The plan cards list video hosting as a Starter addition, while the comparison table shown on phones gives Essentials unlimited videos, so confirm with Kartra before you count on it. Course hosting and a community are planned for October 2026 on CartMango’s $30 a year plan. CartMango’s file storage covers images, PDFs, audio and downloads but not video files, so videos need a host like Vimeo or YouTube.
If you want courses, email and a site on a single bill for less than Kartra, our Systeme.io review covers an all-in-one with a free plan, and the sales limit that comes with it.
Where Kartra goes wrong for its own customers
Kartra’s own customers name 4 places where it goes wrong: support, the page builder, leaving, and price changes.
Support. Kartra’s FAQ sends you first to KAI, its AI assistant, with a team member on request. The Reddit user above adds that “live chat only opens during US business hours”, which matters if you launch from Europe or Asia. On Trustpilot, a 6-year customer wrote in April 2025 that “the live chat can leave you waiting for days”.
The builder. A 1-star review from August 2025 lists “Constant logouts, a malfunctioning page builder, endless glitches”. Even a happy 4-star G2 reviewer in April 2026 noted that the page editor and live pages “can sometimes be a bit slow to load”.
Leaving. A 2-star reviewer from January 2025 wrote that “you are bound to the platform and very costly in the long run”. Kartra’s reply to that review says “Moving a fully built-out business from one all-in-one platform to another can be difficult”. A May 2024 reviewer said they had to keep paying for a site they had not used in a year or lose everything built on it, and Kartra’s reply offered a middle route: freezing the account to keep the content stored “for under $10/month”.
Price changes. In September 2024 a customer reported that a billing problem moved them from about $100 a month to $247 when they updated their card. Another, in December 2024, wrote “They have changed price on me multiple times.”
The cheap protection against the last 2 is the same: export your contacts and customer list on a schedule, so walking away stays possible. A 2022 reviewer warned that access ends the moment you cancel, and told readers to “export all their email lists and data prior to canceling”.
Which Kartra plan fits which situation
If Kartra fits you at all, Starter at $99 a month billed yearly is the plan to start from. Every cost below is on yearly billing, which is why the Essentials line sits at $940 rather than $1,200.
4 situations move you off Starter: a list past 2,500 contacts, a need for affiliates or automations, a small single-product business, and a business that only sells files.
| Your situation | Pick | Cost, billed yearly | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| You pay for pages, email and a checkout separately | Starter | $99 a month | Learning curve, and support is the top complaint |
| Under about $940 a month in sales, 1 product | Essentials | $52 a month plus 5% of sales | 500 contacts, 5 pages, 1 product |
| 2,501 to 12,500 contacts | Growth | $189 a month | Moved up automatically, with a mid-cycle fee |
| You need affiliates, automations or a helpdesk | Growth | $189 a month | Helpdesk live chat needs Professional at $429 |
| You sell files and only need a checkout | CartMango | About $0.83 a month ($10 a year) from November, free right now | No email tool. Course hosting: not yet, planned for October 2026 |
The yearly column is the fair one to compare, because CartMango only bills yearly. On monthly billing the 3 Kartra plans cost $119, $59 and $229.
FAQ
Is Kartra worth it?
Kartra is worth it if it replaces several tools you already pay for, such as a page builder, an email tool and a checkout, and your list fits under 2,500 contacts on Starter at $119 a month. It is poor value if you mainly need a checkout, since Essentials costs $59 a month plus 5% of every sale and allows only 1 product.
Is Kartra free to use?
No. Kartra has no free plan. Its site menu links to a 14-day free trial, a second Kartra page still offers 30 days, and both cap email at 1,000 sends during the trial. After that the cheapest plan is $59 a month, or $52 a month billed yearly, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
How much is Kartra per month?
Kartra costs $59, $119, $229 or $549 a month for Essentials, Starter, Growth and Professional. Billed yearly, the same plans cost $52, $99, $189 and $429 a month. Your contact count can move you up a plan automatically. Our Kartra pricing breakdown covers both fees.
How does Kartra work?
Kartra puts the pieces of an online business in 1 account. You build pages in its funnel builder, collect leads into its contact list, send email and SMS through Kartra Mail, sell through its checkouts, and deliver courses through its membership area. Kartra’s comparison table puts automated email sequences on every plan, and Growth adds automations that tag leads and send each one different emails based on what that lead does.
Does Kartra charge transaction fees?
Only on Essentials, which takes 5% of every sale. The other 3 plans show 0%, though your payment processor still charges its own fee.
Can you cancel Kartra at any time?
Yes. Kartra’s FAQ says you can cancel or change plans at any time from the Billing page in your account, and the pricing page offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on top. Before you cancel, export your contacts and customer list. A 2022 reviewer reported that access ended the moment they cancelled, and another warned against paying for a full year because unused months were not refunded.
Selling a file without renting a whole marketing suite
Selling files rarely needs the whole Kartra bundle. Most situations in this Kartra review came back to 1 question: how much of the bundle will you use? For a seller whose business is mostly files, the checkout may be all you use. On Essentials, Kartra charges $52 to $59 a month plus 5% of every sale for it.
CartMango covers that part on its own: a checkout with no per-sale cut and order bumps on every plan. Every buyer syncs to your email tool, and Kit, ActiveCampaign, Beehiiv and BirdSend connect directly. CartMango is free right now, and paid plans start in November 2026 from $10 a year.
