To cancel your Payhip account: if you’re on a paid plan, cancel the plan first, then delete the account from Login Settings > Account tab. On the free plan, skip straight to account deletion.
Before You Cancel Payhip: What Most People Get Wrong
Most people treat “cancel Payhip” and “delete account” as the same thing. They’re not.
If you’re leaving because of the transaction fees or switching to a different checkout platform, you don’t actually need to delete anything. Downgrading to the free plan costs $0 and doesn’t expire. Your store link stays active, your old customers keep purchase access to their digital content, and your plan won’t renew or charge you again. No cancellation policy drama, no lost data.
The only reason to fully delete is if you want a clean break from the service entirely.
If that’s you, do this before you go:
- Export your order data from the dashboard
- Download your product files
- Send a notification to any active customers or membership subscribers so they know their access will end
- Handle any open refund requests now (Payhip can’t process a refund on a deleted account)
- Update your checkout links if you’ve shared them anywhere
I’m the founder of CartMango, a competing checkout platform for solo creators, so take my perspective on Payhip for what it is.
Step 1: Cancel Your Payhip Subscription Plan
Skip this if you’re on the free plan.
Payhip has three plans:
- Free: $0, 5% transaction fee per sale
- Plus: $29/month, 2% per sale
- Pro: $99/month, 0% per sale
To cancel a paid plan, go to Account > Settings > Billing & Invoices and look for a cancel or downgrade option. This drops you to the free plan and stops any future charge without deleting your account.
Payhip doesn’t prorate cancellations, so you won’t receive a refund for unused days if you cancel mid-cycle.
Can’t find the cancel option in the billing tab? Email contact@payhip.com and they’ll walk you through it.
Step 2: How to Delete Your Payhip Account
- Log in and go to Login Settings
- Click the Account tab
- Click Delete Account
- Select a reason and leave feedback
- Check the confirmation box (“I understand my account will be permanently deleted”)
- Click Delete My Account
Every item in your account, your products, order history, and customer data, is permanently gone. There’s no recovery.
Still unsure? Check Payhip’s help center or email contact@payhip.com before going through with it.
Moving your digital products to a new platform? CartMango is free until 2027, then starting at $9.99/year.
What Happens After You Cancel Payhip
Your store goes offline immediately. Buyers who purchased your digital products lose download access right away, not at the end of a billing cycle.
Any refund request after deletion goes through the customer’s bank or payment processor. Payhip can’t touch it once the account is closed. Most sellers on Payhip list digital product sales as final once an item is accessed or downloaded, but that’s each seller’s call, not a platform-wide policy. Worth communicating to your customers before you cancel your Payhip account.
